DJ Smitty was born Hidden S. Quispe on May 4th, 1990. He started dj’ing at the age of 12. He finally got his first gig on April 9th, 2005 at age of 14 at El Peñon (X'kandalo, 2 Commercial Place, Newburgh NY). It was at this date that an upcoming bachata group called Aventura came to perform at El Peñon, Newburgh N.Y

Since then DJ Smitty has been improving on his skills while meeting other fellow DJ’s along the way. DJ Smitty has come a long way, from dj’ing in his basement to dj'ing in bars, lounges, clubs, and private parties. Since he started dj'ing, he's gone by many names such as DJ Hidden, and DJ Prince, he's better known as “DJ Smitty Your DJ”.

Thanks to his mentors from other fellow DJs, he has been successful at all his parties. DJ Smitty has dj’ed in many areas. Such as in New Windsor, Newburgh, Fishkill, Beacon, Poughkeepsie, Kingston, Albany, White Plains, Nyack, & Queens. DJ Smitty has also opened up for other celebrity radio DJs such as from LA Mega 97.9fm DJ Lobo, DJ Alex Sensation, & DJ Kazzanova and from X96.3 DJ Bacan Bacan, & DJ Creme. DJ Smitty has dj’ed alongside many other DJs and Latin bands. DJ Smitty has done many private parties such as birthdays, weddings, sweet sixteen, house parties, fashion shows, talent shows, fundraisers, grand openings, festivals, and graduations.

Whether the event was a Hip-hop & R&B event, or a Latin Night, or even a 50th anniversary or birthday party DJ Smitty will still rock the crowd. On May 2013, DJ D-Rock gave DJ Smitty the opportunity to DJ on 94.1/95.7fm drivefx every Wednesday night at 7pm. Without any hesitation DJ Smitty took the offer. Every Wednesday night people in the Hudson Valley of New York may hear him mixing and his diversity of music.

On April 2014, Sunrise Broadcasting had decided to take Fox Drive FX on 94.1/95.7 off the air permanently and are now airing ESPN Radio. DJ Smitty along with the whole DBlockParty crew had to say their farewells for now. DJ Smitty wrote this on his Facebook. "I enjoyed my time at 94.1/95.7fm drivefx. With a great team, & good times in the studio and parties on the weekends. I appreciate having had the opportunity to be on the radio. Thank you all for the support, guidance, and encouragement #DBlockParty”.

In January 2019, DJ Smitty was accepted to the Spring Internship at Emmis Communications New York. There he learned what it took to be on the radio while expanding his knowledge of the broadcasting business. He learn about the history of WBLS, HOt 97, and WLIB. Also, he was able to job shadow others and learn about his own strengths and weakness in the communications field. He met other celebrity DJs. Such as DJ Enuff, DJ Camilo, DJ Marley Marl, and DJ Mitch, the people pleaser.

 

For DJ Smitty this is not the beginning of a new chapter in his life, this is the beginning of a new book! That first book is already closed, ended, and tossed away. This new book has only just begun! With new projects lying ahead and going wherever Dj’ing takes him DJ Smitty continues his journey and dj’ing at a Club near you.
